Hi, I’m Sylvie Ellsmore.
I’m a City of Sydney Councillor, elected in 2021, Deputy Chair of the City’s Housing for All Committee, and Co-Chair of the City’s Housing for All Working Group.
You can reach me at the City of Sydney Council on SEllsmore@cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au.
I have worked with environmental organisations, unions and Aboriginal groups, coordinating anti-racism and justice campaigns, and winning legal protections for cultural heritage and native title.
As a former Marrickville Councillor (2012-2016) I worked closely with local community groups and residents, and led successful campaigns for new affordable housing, to defend public services and to increase local green spaces.
I’ve helped build inner-Sydney resident groups, managed community organisations and advised government.
In addition to being a local Councillor, I work part-time for the Sydney Policy Lab, at the University of Sydney.
I am a volunteer karate teacher at Jin Sei Ryu Karate Do (Darlington), a member of the coordinating committee of the Redfern Eveleigh Darlington Waterloo residents’ action group REDWatch, and a former Board member of Inner Sydney Voice (Inner Sydney Regional Council).
