More about voting

Why are there two ballot papers?

When you vote, you will receive two ballot papers. One to directly elect the Lord Mayor, and another to elect nine councillors.

On the smaller ballot paper you vote for the person you want to be Lord Mayor. The Greens candidate is Sylvie Ellsmore. You rank the other candidates in order of your preference.

Vote for the Greens in column ‘E’ on the council ballot paper

Vote for who you want to be the 9 councillors using the bigger ballot. You can vote for our team by putting a number 1 next to the Greens ‘above the line’ on the bigger council ballot paper.

The Greens lead council candidate is Sylvie Ellsmore. Learn more about your Greens team for the City of Sydney here.

COVID safe voting

This year there are more places to vote, it’s easier to vote online, and a range of other changes are in place to ensure you can vote safely. Visit the electoral commission website to find out about COVID safe procedures for the local government elections.
